Who's up for an Orgee?
Ok, I am home, I am more sane, here is my report from Orgee, Blue Gillespie's (and others) gig in Cardiff, at Tommy's Bar.

Ok, driving in Cardiff, was not as easy to find the venue as it was to find the Point. Went looking for a car park nearer to Howard Gardens and then an hour later (via Grangetown and other parts Cardiff) I ended up in the same car park as last time. *sigh* gwene, who I was meeting, had been there an hour already, and has impressed upon me the value of her GPS. I nodded at the sage words of wisdom before tottering into the (very loud) (very small) bar and collapsing with a drink.

Luckily it turned out there was also a (bit ratty) beer garden, and when I wandered out there, it was quite a relief. A place to chat, and hear the bands at a manageable volume. And that is where all the action took place too :) Well, most of it!

There were many familiar faces from the fangirls at the Point, but I got chatting to many more of them this time round, because of the beer garden, there was flameofaphoenix and her non-lj friend Mandy, and many others who I don't have lj names for, since I was rubbish and didn't write anyone's details down! (Sorry guys)

There was then five or six hours of waiting for Disgracelands and Blue Gillespie. This was actually more fun than you might think, thanks to the fangirl squee, Gareth wandering about randomly, and all his mates, plus Gemma, Gareth's girlfriend, and her friend.

Spencer, in particular, was a laugh, and a really good bloke. He was the compere at Sex Wales and Anarchy, and thanks to that now has his own fan MySpace/Facebook page set up - Gareth was indignant about that on stage later, and claimed it was only because Spencer is 'safe as fuck' - aww, Spencer!

Important Things That Happened Or That I Learned:

There was a whip. It belongs to kitty-cat Jo, who is on lj, but see the me being afore-mentioned a bit crap. Jo was happy to demonstrate this whip on anyone who asked, and some who didn't. Luckily it was only a soft flogger or I'd have been more disturbed :) One of these people was Gareth, which did disturb me but in a good way! I'd have been happier if I could have seen it, but I was buying ciggies. gwene saw it though, cross my heart!!

At the beginning of the day there was a children's slide. By the end of the day there wasn't :) But lads will be lads.

Nick (lead singer of Disgracelands) told me that Sex Wales and Anarchy made enough money to enable the band to buy a tour bus! I was so pleased for them. They want to head down to London to do more gigs - Nick reckons he's got a couple of contacts from previous bands he's been in - good luck, is what I say!

Also, Disgracelands have a My Space page, and Nick was commenting back to every post - until after SW&A when the site got completely swamped! Yay for Disgracelands!

The Orgee organisers actually weren't very organised.

The actual music varied, but generally was quite decent. I felt a bit sorry for the other bands though - we were there for Disgracelands and Blue Gillespie, so they had about 3 mates each and the rest of us were out in the beer garden :)

I did buy the EP of Killed by Hollywood, because they were actually quite good. I was also promised sexual favours from the lead guitarist, but that was because I bought him a drink, and it seemed a bit mean to hold him to it!

At last it came time for the main acts, and Gareth was a little bit pissed, bless. Just before the gig some of us got a very - um - revealing photo :) Put it this way, it's a shame Gareth has a tendancy to wear such baggy jeans! Mmm. Lovely. (Not posting it though, not fair, since he was so sloshed)

Gareth also had to shout at Mandy to wake her up to get her inside, and she told him to eff off! :) I think he liked that.

(Earlier, Mandy had managed to be a very jammy girl and got taken off to drink in a different pub by Gemma and later Gareth. When we found this out later, we all forgave her for not answering her phone :)

The Disgracelands set was excellent, as ever, and we had Gareth dancing in the front row. It was a bit of a shame that so many fangirls were taking video of that rather than watching the band, but hey (I just felt a bit bad for him, and Disgracelands). So I mostly danced - and mostly next to Gareth! For the win! I got head-locked and hugged by Spencer too! But God, I miss my hair. I'm old-skool - I headbang, and to do that with short hair... It felt wrong, however nu-metal it is.

Then Blue Gillespie. Well. What can I say? I was two feet away, it was intense. I've already briefly mentioned the bam-bam moment - Gareth staring and pointing his finger about three inches from my nose - wow. I was a happy fangirl! :)

Also, Gareth has that thing for showing off his underwear, and this time is looked to me like a pair of white boxer-briefs. But the elastic was twisted and tucked under at the back. I was itching to lean over and untuck it - I was that close. Obviously, I didn't, since I am not inapproppriate, but OMG I had to tuck my fingers in my belt to squash the urge down...

But here the disorganisation kicked in - there wasn't enough time for Blue Gillespie's full set, and Gareth was not happy. 'If you cut me, I'll cut you.' Mind you, the rest of us weren't exactly ecstatic about it either. They did go over time, but that meant they only cut three songs instead of five. Gareth just dropped the mike and walked off stage in the end. Not Cool, Tommy's Bar.

And that was the finish to a really wonderful day. It was so relaxed, for the most part. Gareth wandering about. Mostly the fangirls holding themselves in check (although there was one... Well, isn't there always?) Earlier, at a point when he didn't seem to mind a few autographs, I got my photoshoot pic signed - on Spencer's chest - aww, Spencer. He gave me a lucky penny too!

As me and gwene left we each took a poster with us as a souvenir. And then gwene used her GPS to take us to my car, and at midnight I started driving home. The M4 is becoming a very familiar road :)

The next day was Collectormania and you should go look at purplephoenix03's report of that, it's much better than mine would ever be!

Extra cool thing: Eve Myles definitely recognised us, and immediately leaped up and kissed me on the cheek! Aww, she's so lovely!

I forgot to mention the Eve kissage! Oops.

As for the Gareth ass... there's wank about it. o_O. But thankfully no one has put the pic up yet *whew*

I feel like I was also there that day: considering I was on the phone for pretty much all of it!! And I got to listen to the set, live. Wheee.

Ooh, where's the wank - I haven't been reading lj at all, I've just been posting...

Not on LJ, on the DW forums. In the GDL thread to specific. Its very o_O.

Dear god, I've just tried to register so I can have a look-see - bloody hell they don't make it easy! I've had to use my work email address! They don't allow gmail! That's my main email, you wankers!
Ash: Dalek (cheese)purplephoenix03 on May 5th, 2008 10:28 pm (UTC)
LOL, I had the same problem when I registered to see what people were saying about my con report. I had to sue my school email address and pray I dont get caught!! Twits.

I just tried to get on and they wouldn't except hotmail!

It's the only one I use.

Idiots. The lot of them for not allowing me to use my own sodding e-mail address.

As bummed out as I am for not getting the chance to go - I'm happy that those who did get to go had a decent time. Apart from Blue Gillespie getting their set cut short.

Epically unfair.

As for the pics of the whipping - I wouldn't mind seeing it, just for a laugh and to see what the big deal about it is (apart from the obvious), but it's up to the people who have them as to what they do with them.
Valderys: Ianto - tea fixes everythingvalderys on May 5th, 2008 10:01 pm (UTC)
Actually, I think there's been some squishing together of stuff - there was a naked ass photo op, and a being whipped on the (non-naked) ass photo op - not both. I got the first, and wasn't present for the second - so I may be wrong, but I don't think so.
absinthefairy88absinthefairy88 on May 5th, 2008 10:14 pm (UTC)
Right. I wasn't sure what there was - what with the whole 'me being in Scotland and Orgee happening in Wales' thing
20hrsinamerica on May 5th, 2008 09:57 pm (UTC)
Wow, what a bummer on the bar. Like, it was closing time or they just wanted the bands done for the night?

Oh, thank you for this post. God, I am so annoyed I had to miss this and Collectormania. They both sound like amazing (and hilarious!) events.
Valderys: Ianto with gunvalderys on May 5th, 2008 10:08 pm (UTC)
I think it was that their licence for live music was only to 11.00 and it was after 11.00 - and yes, both events were fantastic, I am all squeeed out, and I didn't think it was possible!! :)

Yeep! I'm so jealous! Although, let's face it - my apparent inability to talk to Gareth would have gotten in the way a little XD Gah, sounds like you guys all had fun though *retreats to a corner to be jealous*

There was a lot of hanging around as well, mind you - interspersed with moments of pure crack :)

Having Gareth just sort of there made it all worth while. It was still meeting him a bit artificially but better than almost anything else could be, I reckon...

Sounds like it was a great night. I've been checking out Disgraceland's myspace too after all these reports, so any swamping is partly my fault :D Jealous of your Eve kiss.

I know! It was so lovely of her! I think she's such a touchy-feely person anyway that it just comes naturally. Long may it continue, although this sort of thing tends to be knocked out of them after a while, more's the pity.

And don't worry, I think Nick was pleased, just a bit dazed by it all!

Thanks so much for posting about this. Glad you had a good time.

You are entirely welcome! It was fun - I recommend a Blue Gillespie gig for anything that ails you! :)

Now you see Eve Miles is the thoing that would almost tempt me for something like the Rift .. but then again i've had athing for her since 'The Unquiet Dead' ;-)

Did you know she's got freckled breasts? Thought you'd like that tidbit :)

Huh? When did THAT happen?

Spencer rocks and definitely deserves his own fan club ;)

Disgracelands... well, I've been listening to that CD on loop! I hope I'll get another chance to chat with Nick in 3 weeks, because I was too overexcited and sleep deprived to realised what was happening for most of the day!
Valderys: Cube - Worth - half deadvalderys on May 7th, 2008 06:44 am (UTC)
I went in from the beer garden at one point, to sit down cos my legs were killing me, and the band were decent, and the lead guitarist was dying of thirst and I took pity :)

Spencer does, indeed, rock!

And I've listened to the cd, but I have to say I think Disgracelands are a much better live band - and does that mean you're coming to Abergavenny? OMG you're insane! :)

OMG you're insane! :)

I might very well be!

The thing is, I'll be in London for Expo so I'll already be in the UK anyway... I'd feel awful to miss out ;)
