Dr Who
Quick separate post about 'Doomsday', since I've just watched it today.

Did I feel a sense of Doom? No, not really. Did Rose die, like I hoped she would? No, not really. Did I laugh a lot when all the emo stuff was going on. Well actually, yes, somewhat. Not sure that was the reaction they were going for really :)

I loved bits of the ep though. Pete and Jackie made me go 'aww' rather a lot - predictable but still just right. *nods firmly* Shaun Dingwall was at LFCC as well, and was the best of the speakers in the Dr Who panel. Although Eugene Washington was great too, and we should all watch his episode of Casualty in a week or two. (But I feel a bit proprietry of Shaun, having bumped into him (literally, so embarrassing) at the London film premiere of On A Clear Day last year, and got his autograph - and only realising *afterwards* why he was so familiar. Doh!)

I'm really glad they didn't kill Mickey, which I was a bit concerned about. The daleks kicking cyberman butt was surprisingly squee-making - I didn't think I'd care that much :) Go Yvonne - you brave woman, you. Marching to your fate with your eyes open. Sticking to your principles even when a cyberman. (And why aren't they cyberpersons in this modern age? Bet Yvonne would change that if she was made Cyber-controller.)

So all in all, comfortably predictable, in many ways, but I could have done without the whole Rose is the ultimately special one OMG. I was actively cheering when the Bride turned up and distracted the Doctor in one second flat. Yay! That's our Doctor! I think it cheapens all the other companions to make out Rose as anything more than them, certainly cheapens the message of School Reunion.

So. How long's Christmas then?

Thank god SGA starts next week!

throughly seconded on all points !
it occurred to us that the people made into cybermen on this side presumably wouldn't have any void-stuff clinging to them so would be left behind after the breach closed... the new British Imperial Regiment of the Queen's Own Cyberpeople, anyone ? <grin>

Which would be marvellous stuff, but as I said, she was probably sucked in with the rest, more's the pity.

I really didn't, but then it's only School Reunion which has ever got me to blub at Dr Who, so it takes something a bit special. I don't care enough about Rose to blub, unfortunately.
