Re-mix blues
Or rather, not so much blue, as a bit frustrated. I've never tried to write a remix challenge before, because I thought the restrictions might chafe, as indeed they do, but not exactly in the way I thought they would?

I think part of the problem is that I'm remixing a fic for an author whose fic I *really* like. I didn't think this would be a problem, until I find myself sitting and staring at her wonderful opuses (opii?), and wibbling about how to rewrite things that are so obviously perfect. And even now that I've started, I'm obsessively going back and checking every detail, to make sure I'm not messing up (her) canon, and I think my fic is flat and uninteresting, and aarghh!

I suppose it doesn't help that I've picked a 15,000 word time-travelling epic to remix though, does it? :)

opuses (opii?)

Opera. It's third declension and neuter.

Thank you! You'd never be able to guess I failed my Latin o' level, would you? :)

I'm happy to chat and provide brainstorming assistance if you need it. Personally, I'd suggest considering something shorter to remix - when I did one, I did do a longer fic, but it was a "5 Things" fic, so each bit was relatively short. My remixer did a drabble of mine, and I've seen that done quite a bit, as it allows for more flexiblity. But it's just a thought.

I will brain storm at some point - but don't worry, I'm only having a minor wibble. And the reason I've picked a long one is that there is more scope to remix, and because there's a larger cast of characters, so I'm picking someone on the outskirts of the main action - Zelenka, actually. I'll tell you more later - I don't want to be giving away too many clues to the author, since that's a no-no!
